World War 2
This project is very important to me because it is about World War 2. This war is very important to me because many soldiers sacrificed themselves for America. I will tell what World War 2 was and when it occurred, then I’m going to give information on the Allies and the Axis and tell you about all the countries that were involved in the war. My fifth paragraph tells you which were the most important invasions during World War 2. Paragraphs six through nine will be giving you information on the important invasions and operations. Paragraph 10 will tell how World War 2 ended and paragraph 11 and 12 information on Adolf Hitler.
World War 2 was a world changing war. World War 2 involved most of the world’s nations making it the most widespread war in history. The Allies went against the Axis. Over seventy million soldiers and citizens were killed. This made World War 2 the deadliest conflict in human history. World War 2 began on September 1, 1939.
World War 2 was based on the Allies versus the Axis. The Allies were the countries that went against the Axis powers during World War 2. The Allies weren’t involved in the war until they were invaded or threatened by the Axis. They were afraid that the Axis would end up controlling the world. Many countries were involved with the Allies such as U.S.A., China, Belgium, Canada, Union of South Africa, and Poland. The Allies were a very strong group of people. The Allies defeated the Axis powers by 1945. The Axis powers(Germany, Italy, Japan) fought against the Allied powers. The Axis powers were founded in 1940. The Axis powers caused the war to become global.
World war 2 was the most widespread war in history. Many countries were involved in the war. The major countries involved in the war were Germany, Japan, Italy, United States of America, Soviet Union, Canada, Australia, and China. Just about every nation in the world was involved in the war in some way. Argentina, Ireland, Sweden, Portugal, Turkey, and Vatican city were the only nations that stayed neutral throughout the war. Other nations, like Chile began neutral, but were then pressured to join by the U.S.A. Denmark and Norway were also neutral, but were then invaded by Germany. The war was very important to every single one of these countries.
World War 2 began with the Invasion of Poland. This invasion led to many other invasions. Many countries were already at war at the time. Other countries weren’t involved at the beginning of the war, but soon joined later. Very intense events such as the German Invasion of the Soviet Union, and the attacks at Pearl Harbor and British colonies led to the involvement of other countries; which led to the Second World War.
Invasion of Poland
The date of September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland. This was the German Invasion of Poland. World War 2 begins with this invasion. Germany and the Soviet Union divided Poland. All of the Jewish and non-Jewish refugees fled to eastern Poland , but then the Soviet Union trapped them. The refugees were then arrested and sent to Siberia or Asia. About 40,000 Jewish refugees from Soviet-occupied Poland were never arrested or trapped, and fled to Romania and Hungary. The Hungarian government was not happy with the occupation and then deported Jews to German territory. They were then killed by the Soviet Union. 14,000 Jews fled to Lithuania and out of those 14,000, 2,100 fled east to Japan. German leader of the Nazi Party, Adolf Hitler was very happy with the surrender of Poland. The Invasion of Poland ended October 6, 1939.
German Invasion of the Soviet Union
The German invasion of the Soviet Union (Operation Barbarossa) during World War 2, was the largest military offense in human history. 4.5 million Axis troops invaded the USSR along a 1,800 mile front. It also involved 600,00 motor vehicles and 750,00 horses. The Germans began planning for this operation on December 18, 1940. The planning stopped on the year of 1941 when they had every single thing planned out. They had planned to rapidly invade the A-A line, but the Red Army repelled the Wehrmacht’s strongest attack. Soviet Russia was too strategic for the Adolf Hitler’s German army. This failure led to more operations all planned out by Adolf Hitler, but they all failed too.
Attack On Pearl Harbor
The Attack on Pearl Harbor began on December 7, 1941 when an unannounced military strike by the Japanese military against the United States’ Navy base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was conducted. The attack had two aerial attack waves that totaled many airplanes. The attack also sank four U.S. Navy battleships, three cruisers, three destroyers, one mine layer, destroyed 188 aircraft, killed 2,402 U.S. soldiers, and wounded 1,282 soldiers. It was devastating. This outraged President Roosevelt into passing the U.S. Declaration of War on Japan. This was the official entry into World War 2 for the United States of America.
Allied Invasion of France
Operation Overlord was a code name for an Allied invasion of France. The invasion began on June 6, 1944 with the Normandy Landings(D-Day). An airborne assault an amphibious assault and nearly 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel on June 6. More than 3 million crossed at the end of August. The Allied forces that fought in the battle were all from Canada, United Kingdom, and United States of America. Other Allied nations also participated. The battle continued for up to two months. Operation Barbarossa ended on August 30, 1944. The operation was done because Germans had one of “the most famous victories in history” when Germany invaded France and America didn’t want the Germans to control France.
World War 2 ended on September 2, 1945 with a victory for the Allies. The war ended in Europe with a surrender by the Axis (Germany) on May 7, 1945. The next day the Axis powers surrender to the Soviet union. Germany was conquered by the British and America in the south and west. They were also conquered in the east by the Russians. On the sixth and seventh day of August bombs were launched on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Emperor admitted his defeat. The surrender was signed on September 2, 1945 aboard a battleship in Tokyo Bay. This particular surrender would end the war all around the world.
One of the most hated man known to Jews is Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician. He was born on August 24, 1933. He was the leader of the National Socialist Workers Party (Nazi Party). Adolf Hitler was believed by some to be the Anti-Christ that the Jews said would come. He was born to kill and that was what he did. He started out as a totalitarian leader in Germany and then became dictator of Germany. He had a private session with a man named Erik Jan Hanussen, a fortune teller. He read Hitler’s future and he told him he saw tremendous power for him and that it could not be stopped. . He gave Hitler advice on how to win over the people and how to lower and raise his voice at certain times to tell the people that he knows what he is saying. Hitler liked the fortune teller and had many more different sessions with him. Hitler soon became powerful like Erik told him. The people loved him. Hitler wanted to create a single race of Germans and he wanted to annihilate all Jews. Hitler was also sent to jail a couple of times for his open mind. During his time in jail he walked around his cell yelling out words as his “scribe” wrote them down in a book that soon later became known as Mein Kampf (My Struggle). Hitler soon found out that his clairvoyant Erik Jan Hanussen was a Jew, but he didn’t care. Hitler then became so powerful that he attracted huge crowds that you couldn’t even imagine. He made a flag that had a Swastika (Bent Christian Cross) on it. Around the Swastika red that represented not just the blood of Jews, but of his soldiers.
During his ceremonies he would grab the Nazi flag soaked in the blood of Jews and touch other Nazi flags held by his soldiers and crowd. He was a relentless man. He would build concentration camps that would hold Jews and kill them. They would either starve to death or be killed. Adolf would treat the Jews as if they were animals. Adolf and his Nazi army killed over six million Jews during the war. This killing of Jews is known as the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler was a horrible man. During the last days of World War 2, Adolf and his wife, which was also his niece, Eva Braun committed suicide in a bunker during the fall of Berlin on April 30, 1945.

Another excellent piece of writing Hermes. Your depth of research is outstanding and I greatly appreciate your extra effort and dedication to remembering what Allied soldiers did to save the world. Can you imagine what kind of a world this would be if Hitler and the rest of the Axis had won?
