Advice for a sixth grader

Posted in Personal with tags , , on May 27, 2011 by Dusty

M49b57cc0ed20dadviceI was pretty prepared for sixth grade ,because I knew what was expected because my sister was a sixth grader before me. I was really good at math and Language arts. My friends Timmy and Ian helped me in History and Avid a lot when I had trouble.  I was surprised that we used a lot more technology, it was easier then they say it is, and i had good teachers.

My two best areas where Math and Science now. I still need to work my hardest in History and Avid. I really enjoyed using the computers, because we would use them for almost everything. I would suggest that to not hang out with people who are going to hold you back and keep you from succeeding.  I would also say always try your hardest and don’t give up or get frustrated.

Advice To A 6th Grader

Posted in History with tags , on May 27, 2011 by Timothy

When I came to 6th grade I was totally unprepared. I had all my supplies but I was not mentally prepared  for work. My best skills were multiplying so I thought math was the subject I was going to do best on. The friends that helped me the most were Ian and Dusty because if I needed help I would ask them or text them. The thing that surprised me the most was science. I thought science was going to be boring, but it was fun.

I think that I am prepared for 7th grade and I will try my best. It turns out that my strongest area was P.E I needed to work the most in Language Arts writing essays. My favorite thing about technology was the Moodle because you can send massages, turn in work, and find out what you are going to do that week. The advice I would give is to never give up and always do your best.

I thought I was prepared for the 6th grade but, I still needed journals for each class. My best skill coming in was probably A.L.D. When I came to 6th grade I already had friends from the past so I just hanged around with them also I got new friends too. What surprised me the most about 6th grade was all the computers.

The areas I thought I was the strongest was A.L.D. The areas I needed help on was probably history. The technology I liked the most was moodle. The advice I will give to you is don’t make Mr.miler mad.

A delicious fragrance
Warm cookies
On a cool plate
Mouthwatering aroma fills the room.
Addicting taste of chocolate chips
Heaven in my mouth
Right from the oven
Sugar taking you away.
Crunchy and warm
Wanting more
Different varieties on the plate
Disappointed they’re gone.
Walk away
Empty taste in my mouth
Go to the store
To get some more

Heaven is bright

See the light

Warm sensation

More temptation.

Crimson, color of blood

No mud

Black is death

Take a breath.

Scent is glorious

Everyone is notorious

Goodbye to family

This is my reality.

Salamis

“CRASH” our boat had slammed into one of those Persian boats. Their boat broke into pieces, Persians falling out and drowning. Pieces of wood stuck in them. No scratch on our boat we have very hard oak wood and a thick layer of iron at the end. We pulled out our spears and finished the rest off. Persian jumped on our boat trying to kill the rowers but our captain shoved his spear up the Persians head.

Our group went in the crashed Persian ship to see if any Persians were still alive. Every single Persian in the crashed ship were all dead, blood splattered everywhere. When we went back out to our boat we had been surrounded by Persian boats. Rowers trying to fight them off but the Persians sword would just cut through the paddles. So we went out there and defended our boat, but there were about 20 boats left there was no way we can fight them all off.

Then all of a sudden “BOOM” at first I thought the Persians finally got to Athens and took it down but it was just our fleets. They were just crashing into the Persian boats. There were about 15 of our boats but XL boats that carried 20 men in each one. They were also Athenians like us. They were also trapped by the boats they destroyed. Then the sky lightened I thought it was the sun but the Athenians were on fire. Screaming, splashing when they were struggling in the water. They had all burned to death.

Now we were out of the circle of boats. The flaming arrows didn’t come from boats they came from land. The Persians finally got to Athens. Athens was on fire . Citizens on fire running around falling into the water. Houses broken down and ashes and cinders everywhere. It looked like we were the only group left other than the alive citizens. Other boats on fire and human flesh melting and burning. So we literally crashed into the wall of Athens. It made some Persians fall which we sliced with our swords. We were trying to get to the Parthenon. Where our God Athena was.

All of us just jumped onto land. We started killing Persians by the second. There were about 1200 Persians in Athens. We started spring to the Parthenon. In the distance we could see 4 men fighting that Athenians. We looked back and our boat was on fire which had the rowers on it. As we got closer to Parthenon the 4 men were surrounded and they ended up getting killed. Out of nowhere spears flew at us and killed 4 people and injured 2. S that just left me and the captain. Soon enough the two injured men ended up dead of eternal bleeding. Before we left A huge Persian came and smacked the captain in his face with a huge stick. While he was hitting the captain I went behind the Persian and stuck my sword in his head and killed him. I finally got to the Parthenon and it was burnt down and broken Athena was shattered. Behind me a group of Persians came and they all surrounded me and shot arrows all at my head and I died. Then after Athens was burnt down the Persians went back to Persia.

Battle Of Marathon

This is the Marathon plain Today

It is the day before the battle you can almost smell the blood in the air, hear the sharpening of swords. 20,000 Persian warriors have landed on the plain of Marathon. We are fighting those no good Persians. This battle is going to be very important because the fate of Athens and Greece lies in our hands.

The day of the battle the Persians are waiting for us to attack because we have less soldiers. I started running towards the battle when a very big man was heading straight  for me I rolled to the right and jabbed him on the unguarded part of his chest. Then I got thrown down from the back this time I stabbed him in a chink in his armor. Then an older man was advancing on me I cut his head right off.

That was the bloodiest battle ever. There was a lot wounded and about 192 deaths that day. We knew Xerxes was going to have them attack again.. We wondered if that the next battle we were going to win.

Battle of Marathon

Battle of Marathon

First phase of the Battle of Marathon

Hundreds of men lying on the floor dead fighting the Greeks. The battle of Marathon was a short distance away from Athens. We were at war against King Darius and his Persian army. This battle was important for us, because if we lost we would lose Athens to the Persians. The Persians would burn Athens down if they won, so it was important that the Greeks win.

Blood everywhere and my friends were dead, but we still fought. The Persians were waiting for the Athens to come, but we didn’t fall for it. We waited until the Persians came to us. When they came we attacked them unexpectedly and killed them. I hurt myself but kept fighting. Only a couple of us died, but many had major or minor injuries. The first ones to come were the Calvary the strongest ones. We charged them as soon as they stepped foot there. We caught and slaughtered the ones on foot when the boarding the ships.

Watching the Persians retreat was a great victory for us, and there blood on the floor as some of them lied dead. We defeated the Persians and they retreated. Xerxes had them attack again to create the battle of Thermopylae.  We sent a messenger to Athens 25 miles away. He arrived there and before he died he gasped “Victory”. That let the Athenians at Athens know that they won.
